Tali'Zorah vas Normandy

For 3D-Texturing we were assigned to create a concept for a Meetmat, which we’d then unwrap in C4D and create the texture for.

To challenge myself with the production I wanted to recreate „Mass Effect 3″s Tali’Zorah vas Normandy. Here are a few references I found for the project!

Drawn Concept

After my teacher found my idea good, I created a little concept sheet of her. I traced the shapes of the Meetmat to be as accurate as possible with the different chini anatomy. Then I drew every detail I wanted to texturize onto her.

Unwrapping & Textures

I unwrapped the Meetmat in Cinema and started to create the texture on the map I created. Meanwhile I had built two patterns for Tali. One to emulate her honeycomb-esque pattern and the other swirly one of her clothing. Of course we also had to think of the Bumb- and normal-masks as well. Yet because of all the tedious back and forth testing of the look on the meetmat I somehow corrupted the file with the map and meetmat, one day before it was due. So I had to cut the Meetmat open again, which wasn’t as tedious on this try as I already knew my pattern.
